It started with a question we kept hearing
For years our team grew founder-led brands on Amazon, Walmart, Flipkart and Google. We knew how search rankings and marketplace algorithms decided who got seen. Then the questions from founders changed. They were no longer only asking how to rank on page one. They were asking why ChatGPT recommended a competitor when a customer asked for the best product in their category.
It resonated with all of us, because we could see it happening in our own buying too. The shortlist was no longer ten blue links. It was one answer with three or four brands in it, and the brands in that answer were not always the best products. They were the ones AI understood best.
