Techmadeazyllms.txt is a small text file that summarizes your site for AI tools. It is cheap to add and easy to get right. It is also not a magic switch, and anyone who sells it as one is overselling.
Where it came from
llms.txt was proposed in 2024 as a simple standard: a Markdown file at the root of your domain, at yourdomain.com/llms.txt, that tells language models what your site is about and which pages matter most. Think of it as a short, curated table of contents written for machines rather than people.
What it can and cannot do
It can give any AI tool that reads it a clean, accurate summary of your brand and a shortlist of your most important pages, without the navigation, pop-ups and scripts of a normal web page.
It cannot force an assistant to recommend you, and the major AI companies have not said publicly that they rely on it when ranking or citing sources. Treat it as good hygiene alongside the work that clearly matters: consistent brand facts, answer-first pages and credible third-party mentions.
What to put in it
- Your brand name as a heading, followed by a one or two sentence summary of what you sell and who it is for.
- Key facts stated plainly: markets you ship to, price range, standout claims you can back up.
- A short list of your most important pages with one line each: best sellers, category pages, size or care guides, FAQs, shipping and returns.
- Nothing promotional you would not want quoted back word for word.
Keep it true and current
An llms.txt that lists discontinued products or old prices does more harm than none at all. Put it on the same review schedule as your product pages.
